The Permanent Diversity Program, also known as the Diversity Lottery or the "Green Card Lottery", provides 50,000 - 55,000 immigrant visas (green cards) each year to people from countries who's citizens are considered to be underrepresented in the U.S. immigrant pool. Winners are selected in a random drawing.
Citizens of some countries with very high rates
of immigration to the U.S., such as Canada and Mexico, are not allowed to
participate. . Citizens of all other countries may apply. The list may
change slightly from year to year.
Each applicant is limited to
one (1) application each year but more than one family member may apply. If
any of them is drawn as a winner, the entire family consisting of husband,
wife and all children under 21 years of age are eligible to receive a "Green
Card".
People who are not immediately eligible to immigrate to the U.S. through some other means should seriously consider submitting an application to the Green Card Lottery each year. However, applicants should be aware that each year several million applications are thrown out for not complying with strict, and sometimes outright silly, mailing and other technical rules leaving a relatively much smaller application pool for the actual drawing. Only the much smaller group of applications which comply with all of the technical, completion, filing and mailing rules are included in the actual lottery drawing.
Our office offers an easy and inexpensive alternative to self-filing of your application, assuring proper completion and filing of your "Green Card Lottery" application in compliance with all technical rules. Our offices will complete, review and properly file your "Green Card Lottery" application so that it is compliance with all rules required to be included in the drawing. The cost for this service is $35 USD for one (1) applicant or $50 USD for two (2) applications in the family (husband and wife) or $65 USD to file applications for husband, wife and all eligible minor children in the family.
The dates for the limited 30 day filing period are announced each year. Applications filed at any other time are rejected and excluded from the drawing. We complete "Green Card Lottery" applications for clients throughout the year and hold them in our offices until the filing period is announced. We then file all applications with the proper department for the applicant's country of chargeability at the proper time to assure inclusion in the lottery drawing. Our mailing address is placed on each application so that we may notify any clients if they have been a winner in the lottery.
All "Green Card Lottery" applications are processed at our Asia office and then forwarded to our U.S. office for final review and proper filing during the announced application period.
